The Blogger Recognition Award: Diffusing the Tension

Sharing is caring!

This is so cool! Thank you so much to @JeshaIsABookworm for this nomination. (You can follow them at http://jeshaisabookworm.blogspot.com)

It is massively flattering to receive recognition from another blogger for my hard work. The blogging community is simply amazing. It is such a supportive and enriching group to be a part. I never would have thought, when I started my blog in January, that I would find a second family!

About the Blogger Recognition Award

The Blogger’s Recognition Award is an award handed out by bloggers to other bloggers to recognize their hard work, effort, and dedication they are putting into their blog. It’s not easy keeping up a blog. There is a lot to be done in order to maintain it.  This award was created as a symbol of approval and motivation; and to let readers know more about other bloggers who deserved to be followed. Bloggers take time to create their posts. They research the topics and take hours writing it, to ensure that their post is the best it could ever be.

Award Rules

  1. Write a post displaying your award.
  2. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  3. Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  4. Give two pieces of advice for new bloggers.
  5. Nominate 10-15 bloggers who you believe deserve to be recognized.
  6. Let the nominees know they have been nominated.

How did you start blogging?

I was diagnosed with depression when I was 13. I went through a really hard time, and unfortunately, life didn’t get any easier. My diagnosis changed to bipolar 2 about 10 years later. Ever since then, I have struggled with depression, anxiety, fatigue, and irritablity.

I started becoming more open with my struggles in 2018. It was a hard year for a lot of people. I think the most recent election left a lot of people feeling really raw and vulnerable. I began to open up about the things I was experiencing as someone living with mental illness. That led to positive feedback from my followers, so I decided to start a blog.

Diffusing the Tension, the blog, was born in January 2019. (Check out my first post about setting goals!) Since then, I have amassed over 100 loyal followers, and it is growing by the day.

What Advice Can You Give to New Bloggers?

The first thing I would say to do is come up with a plan. Grab a notebook (or open up your laptop) and think about the following things:

  • What is your ultimate goal for the blog?
  • How do you plan to monetize it?
  • How many followers do you hope to gain this year?
  • Can you commit to writing a blog post once or twice a week?
  • What social media platforms will you post consistently on?

These are just a few questions, but are really helpful to consider.

My other piece of advice would be to connect with other bloggers. Like I mentioned earlier, this is an amazing community, full of people ready to support you and engage on your posts. Find blogging Facebook groups or Twitter threads to be a part of and make new friends! You will not regret it.
