I want to ask you a question. When was the last time you did something really hard? Like really hard. So, difficult that just thinking about doing it gives you palpitations.
That was me 3 months ago. I decided to give up pop, specifically Pepsi. I had to have it. All the time. I would literally drive to Walgreens in a monsoon if we were out of it, just to satisfy my craving. If I didn’t have it, I was moody as hell.
Pop is such a part of our culture, you can literally almost buy it anywhere. They even had a vending machine at my last therapist’s office. As much as it gets its hooks into people, it really should be considered a controlled substance.
I grew tired of being a slave to Pepsi. Think about that for a second. How INSANE does it sound to literally need liquid to function? (I am not applying that theory to water, because the consumption of water has positive effects on our body, and there is scientific evidence to support needing water to survive.) But needing soda? I have been there. I understand the visceral longing after an interminable day chasing toddlers. In fact, as I type this, I can taste it in my mouth. The sweetness, and the way I used to take a sip a sort of hold it in my mouth for a second so I could relish the carbonation. It is as real to me as if I was sitting here drinking one.
So, why do we drink Pepsi?
Enjoyment of the taste?
For a little pick me up?
We are addicted (Click HERE) and what we have a hard time realizing is that all of those benefits we find in drinking pop can be replaced by something else.
For stress relief, take a jog around the block.
For the enjoyment of taste? It may take some doing, but there are plenty of other things that taste good!
For a pick me up, sniff some Peppermint oil and take your b vitamins.
You can stop being a slave to Pepsi. I did 90 days ago, and I will not look back.
